Incorrect. Half of nodes are based on character/champion level, half of nodes are based on skill point investment in the first crafting passive for that line. A level 50 character with 10/10 in the metalworking passive on an account with >= 160 champion points will always see rubedite ore.

The only right implementation from ZOS on this would have been to add completely new node spawn points for this new resource, which they could make as common or rare as they like. Instead they went the incredibly daft and lazy route of simply turning X% of their ore nodes into jewelry nodes instead.

No. If you want to collect different higher level ores you'd put points into the Metalworking passive. The type of ore you get depends half on the level of your character and half on how many points you have in that passive. A level 50 character with no points in Metalworking will see iron nodes half the time and rubedite half the time.

Another thing you could do is save up every single rubedo leather armor piece you have to deconstruct it, although each one equals a single leather so you'll need to save up quite a lot.

Free items will only sell for 0 gold. They also provide no materials when you deconstruct them. That being said, Coldharbour is a good place in general. The way i make most of my gold is farming rubedite and vile mansion. Farm vile mansion just farming for an hour i get about 15k then i go farm rubedite ore i refine it any temps i may get from it i sell them and then sell the ingots in the guild store.

I have refined thousands upon thousands of various ore, but the larger batches have mainly been either rubedite or iron. I have done it in a batch of about 15,000 all at once as well as just 4,000 or 2,000 or even just 400 and my long term rate is about 5 tempers for every 1000 refined which is the .5% that Mallagar states.

So if you are CP 160 but never put skill points in, you'll get 50% rubedite ore and 50% iron ore. All zones have approx. the same amount of resource nodes, but because the starter islands are smaller zones, the nodes appear very dense compared to other base game zones or especially a larger zone like Morrowind where nodes are much more spread out.

200 rubedite ore is 20 refinements. ^ 20 = ~36% That is, more than a 1 in 3 chance that you will get no Alloy from refining 200 rubedite. Even though the return rate is 1 per 200 ore. 400 rubedite ore is 40 refinements. ^ 40 = ~13% So you had about a 13% of not getting an Alloy 40 times in a row. More than 1 in 8.

There are ten different types of ore. When you first start Blacksmithing, you will only find Iron Ore. However, as you level up your character and Blacksmithing rank, you will start finding more types. High iron ore can only be obtained by players of a certain level (1525) or with a certain blacksmithing skill (one point into the first passive). But then I decided to push my luck and I decimated the Malabal Tor animal populace to near extinction. Three hours of grinding and no lead. After this Ore refinement I refined Ash Wood, and I did get a lot back in those + 140 pieces. I never experienced having nothing with 120 pieces refining raw Ore. In most instances, refining will get you more in value than selling. Where it's better to sell the raw is platinum dust, rubedite ore, ruby ash, and some of the level 1 mats.
