Glass is brittle and will flake off, and ground glass is a wellknown frictionincreasing additive. And either way it's too hard, increasing the risk of impact ignition.

Never ever ball mill potassium perchlorate and aluminum together in a ball mill. There are only a few mixes of components that can be mill together. Always use saftey first when using a ball mill. The one and only time I tried to Mill pure kno3 I got the rock hard balls. I put them in a mason jar in case I ever get desperate enough to break them up and use them LOL I had just made a batch of black powder with the same kno3 but I guess the charcoal absorb the extra moisture.

I would like to gather some experience from you: How many hours do you ballmill your BP, and for what purpose? And, propably the most important question: Can you mill for too long, and ruin the result? Blowing shit up is not a goal in itself.

Where I live, you can't really buy black powder. I have heard the black powder created by ball milling is superior to that made with red gum. I am planning to buy a 6 lb rock tumbler from HF and modify it a little. I live in a neighborhood, so I don't have that much room to distance the mill from buildings, and want to be safe.

Another similar mill is the Rebel 17, which is supposed to be a heavy duty version of the Model B. It has stronger rollers, powder coated jar, and stronger bearings. They're usually around 30 more expensive than a stock model B. The black jar wouldn't hurt to hide charcoal stains either.
